Stephen Ibaraki, FCIPS, I.S.P., MVP, DF/NPA, CNP

Chairman and CoFounder

Stephen Ibaraki, FCIPS, DFNPA, ISP, ITCP, IP3P, CNP, MVP –. Multiple Lifetime/Career Achievement Award recipient and IT Hall of Fame inductee, Stephen is the most awarded international senior industry analyst, author/writer, executive, entrepreneur, speaker, and global leader. A few of Ibaraki’s more than 40 international recognitions and awards for his lifetime outstanding contributions to IT and Industry are independently profiled here as a nominated and elected founding CIPS Fellow. Other founding Fellows include global computing pioneers in education, computing, and industry.

Here is a Microsoft profile from Stephen’s opening day keynote at the invitation-only Strategic Architecture Forum (SAF) which received a 97.5% recommendation rating spotlighting the keynotes. In 2009, due to Ibaraki’s recognized global leadership, a sampling of Stephen’s invitations for keynotes and invited special presentations and strategic guidance included Chicago, Seattle, Vancouver (multiple), Montreal, Toronto (multiple), London UK, New York, and across China. In late 2008, as noted by Premier Campbell of British Columbia when Stephen was awarded the top-industry-based ASTBC Award for his lifetime body of work, “Congratulations on being honoured for your Advanced Technology Award…you have distinguished yourself in your field of endeavour promoting pioneering efforts in technology and this award will recognize your considerable contributions with respect to the applications and adaptations of advanced technology to new uses. I commend you for your many achievements and thank you for your commitment to industry excellence.” Previously, the Federal Government Industry Canada and the Information Technology Association of Canada (which employs more than 70% of the IT workforce and accounts for 140B in revenue) awarded Stephen the IT Hero Award.

 

Dave O'Leary BA Ed, Dip Ad Ed, MEd, I.S.P., ITCP/IP3P

Director and co-Founder

Dave O'Leary's commitment to excellence, professionalism, and corporate social responsibility was fundamental to his co-founding iGEN. Dave is currently CIO of a Community College in British Columbia. He is the elected Chair of the National Council of Deans of Technology and a Director on the Board of the National Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC)  . He was recently appointed to represent all of Canada’s Colleges and Institutes on the Coalition for Tomorrow’s It Skills. Dave recently completed a term as an elected director on the National Board of the Canadian Information Processing Society and continues his CIPS involvement as a Provincial Director. He has ongoing involvement as a project team member of the IEEE working to address the challenge of declining enrolments in Computer Science, ICT and Engineering. In July 2007 Dave presented a paper at the Chinese National Conference on Higher Education in Qingdao addressing the implications of educational technology on the future of post-secondary education in that country.  Dave co-managed the development of the first Canadian Network Specialist Program combining Micrososft and Novell certification.  He also led production of the first web based online credit reporting service leveraging Microsoft Biztalk.  This product has since evolved into a ubiquitous consumer service. Through iGEN's dual invitation to the World Computing Congress ( the only Canadian company invited),  Dave coauthored the first papers on collaborative filtering and the semantic web - the basis for modern social media and media sharing technologies.  He has appeared as a guest presenter on a number of Microsoft Webcasts. Dave recently accepted an invitation from IT World Canada Inc. to “become a member of our first Blue Ribbon Judging Panel for the ComputerWorld IT Leadership Awards, to be held in Toronto, May 2010.” The recipient of the 2002 ACCC National Leadership Excellence Award, Dave is particularly accomplished in building trust based enterprise relationships.

 

Derek Nobuyuki Wallace

Operations and Chief Technical Officer

Derek Nobuyuki Wallace brings over 12 years of web development and 8 years of software experience experience to iGEN. Specialized in software architecture, data systems, & web applications, Wallace's background includes his degree in software engineering and intercultural communications. Wallace's teams have pioneered video streaming, mobile phone video, instant messenger encryption, content management, and customer relations management technologies. Wallace's experience ranges from design & implemention of data processing, software, database, and web systems to graphic design and marketing. This breadth complements iGEN's ability to respond to the opportunity with agility and knowledge. As a business technology analyst with iGEN, Wallace and Atkinson's business technology trend forecasts are published for the Chinese markets. Wallace's research interests include educational applications of cross cultural knowledge management. He is currently designing marketing technologies for Japanese markets.

 

Jason Carvalho

Business Development

Jason Carvalho draws on over 10 years of experience in the Business, Not For Profit, and ICT sectors and has earned a reputation as a successful organization builder with proven leadership expertise. Over the past 5 years he has volunteered hundreds of hours and held Director posts with several not for profit and community organizations. Formerly Vice-President and founder of the Greater Victoria Entrepreneurs Challenge, winner of the 2002-2003 Quality of Life Award presented by the Capital Region of B.C, Carvalho was responsible for the organizations executive committee, media, marketing, structural and financial growth. As the founder of the Canadian Social Entrepreneurialship Foundation, Carvalho's contributions to socially responsible entrepreneurialship have be recognized in Canada and the United States

 

Craig Atkinson

Business Development

Craig Atkinson, brings to the team over 12 years of working in IT and 7 years of experience as a leader in non-profit organizations and business. His wide-ranging technology experience ranges from software design and engineering, bioinformatics, web application development, and database design. He also brings significant leadership, sales, and entrepreneurship experience in technology, services and finance. As a founder of the Greater Victoria Entrepreneurs Challenge, Atkinson was the winner of the 2002-2003 Quality of Life Award presented by the Capital Region of British Columbia. His business drive and global citizenship has contributed to iGEN's trusted relationship model and entrepreneurial nature complimenting the other members of the team.

 

Richard Longworth

Director

Richard Longworth has over 30 years of world-ranking IT experience leading RGL then iGEN to a record of success. Longworth is a global leading System Analyst and Designer with an expert reputation in legacy database migration. His expertise has led him to become one of only two Canadian Executives to present at the World Computing Congress, the largest and most prestigious gathering of computer professionals in the world, presenting iGEN's work on UML and XML based enhancements to the Internet. Longworth has also contributed his expertise leading the only development team to ever achieve the prestigious “Innovators of Tomorrow” award. Longworth's commitement to the future of technology and education has led to many breakthroughs including the Learning Knowledge Framework. Reflecting iGEN's commitment to shared knowledge, social development and trust based relationships, Longworth recently published his first book Turning the Self Inside Out: A Self Discovery Guidebook for Gen Y

 

Yong Tao Chen

Director

Yong Tao “YT” Chen was the first in the world to achieve the SQL MCDBA, CNA, MCSE+I, MCSD, CSP, and NSP titles.  He continues his innovative technical leadership in the exciting world of International Medical Research and Development.  Following a successful career start in China, YT joined iGEN as its initial CTO where he led the architecture and development of key websites for two of the largest financial websites as well as other Fortune 500 companies. YT has been published in elite industry-leading technical journals like Britain's Xephon. YT continues to provide iGEN with the benefit of his experience and success through his new role as a Director providing a global perspective on the myriad of opportunities emerging from the healthcare field as well as insight and guidance for iGEN as it continues to grow its presence in China.
